The Sow Project partners with Lifedoc to expand healthcare access for students

At The Sow Project, workforce development has always been centered on removing the barriers that stand between someone and long-term employment. That’s why we’re proud to announce a new partnership with Lifedoc Health, expanding access to healthcare for all current and incoming students.

Through this partnership, students now have access to VidaPlus, Lifedoc’s concierge-style healthcare membership program. Designed for individuals who may not have traditional health insurance, VidaPlus provides affordable, ongoing access to primary care, specialty services, and wellness offerings — all critical components of long-term stability and success.

This is a natural extension of The Sow Project’s model. Students enrolled in the program are building careers through paid, hands-on culinary apprenticeships. Sustaining that progress requires reliable access to healthcare, ensuring students can show up consistently, stay focused, and continue moving forward in their careers.

VidaPlus was designed with this exact population in mind. The program supports uninsured workers, part-time employees, and individuals navigating gaps in traditional coverage. Members receive access to primary care, specialty services, and an in-house pharmacy, along with significant cost savings on care. The program also assists in the management of long-term management of chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and cardiovascular disease.

For Sow Project students, the program is both accessible and practical. Enrollment is available to all students for a minimum of six months, with the option to extend coverage to family members. The Sow Project covers half of the monthly cost, while students contribute the remaining portion through payroll deductions, creating a shared investment in long-term health and stability.

This partnership reflects a broader understanding of what it takes to build a sustainable workforce. When individuals are able to address health concerns early, manage ongoing conditions, and access care without financial strain, they are better positioned to complete training, maintain employment, and grow in their careers. By partnering with Lifedoc, The Sow Project is strengthening its commitment to wraparound support so that students are trained for the job and backed by the systems that allow them to keep it.

As The Sow Project continues to expand, partnerships like this help ensure that growth is built on a strong foundation. By making healthcare more accessible, The Sow Project and Lifedoc are helping individuals stay on track toward meaningful, long-term careers in hospitality.
